Details:
Spiral structure in the comae of comets is a phenomenon that can be observed sometimes. What we see is dust and/or gas flowing out of the rotating comet nucleus. Images taken on the evening of July 21 reveal that the coma of Neowise must have looked like a whirlpool on that moment. The more saturated processings show a full spiral with material moving to the outer layers of the coma during the rotation cycle. Images taken with a 10 inch Newtonian reflector from my backyard. Note: No rotational gradient filters are used, just the standard lucky imaging planetary processing method.
