Details:
Before the clouds arrived once again, I made a few images of Comet NEOWISE passing the star Talitha (Iota Ursae Majoris), and Kappa Ursae Majoris. The first image is with a 50 mm lens, and the rest are with an 85 mm; the 50 @ f/3.4 and the 85 @ f/2.8, between 9:53 and 10:45 pm CDT. Exposures range from 30 to 184 seconds, all at ISO 200. The clouds pulling the curtain down on the show in the last image made me feel . . . you guessed it: blue. The comet's head was comparable in brightness to nearby Theta Ursae Majoris at 3rd magnitude.
