Details:
With comet NEOWISE now in the evening sky, I eagerly awaited the chance to observe the comet over many nights. The weather did not cooperate, and for three nights in a row, there was a thick cloud cover. On the fourth night, the weather forecasts were favorable. I went up to the roof of my apartment building with my son, David. The sky to the north, the location of the comet, was basically clear, although there was some cirrus cloud covering and haze. The comet was not naked-eye, but appeared at 9:22PM with my 15x70 binoculars. The comet appeared very dim due to the excessive light pollution over Manhattan, where the comet was located. Even though the comet was very dim, it was a thrill to view such a wondrous object! Details: Canon EOS REBEL T5i camera, 5s exposure, f/5.6, ISO 800, Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 lense set at 400mm, manual focus, remote shutter release, GITZO tripod.
