1. Clouds only cleared during the last 75 minutes before the comet set and transparency was still only rated 2 (on a scale to 10).
Tech specs: Nikon d3500, Nikkor 85mm, f/1.4 @ f/2, iso 3200, stacked 21x30s raw, post-processed in PixInsight, Lightroom and Photoshop. Taken between 11:18PM to 11:32 MDT when NEOWISE was only a degree from my hilly horizon.
F.O.V. is ~15,7x10.5 degrees. Comet's tail stretched greater than 13 degrees in this uncropped image. The dust tail has a distinct v-shaped wedge with several SYNCHRONIC BANDS which usually only occur with "Great" Comets.
2. Under very challenging sky and terrain conditions, I managed to capture Comet NEOWISE in this widefield shot. F.O.V. is approximate 20h x 30w degrees. Tail length is ~16 degrees.
Tech Specs: Nikon d3500, Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 @ f/2.8, iso 2200, exp 50x10s, raw, cropped. Foreground was mostly fixed during this period as the comet slowly drifted from left to right. Taken from 11:20PM to 11:31PM MDT.
