Details:
On Monday evening I decided to try and get a close up tracked image of Comet NEOWISE as all my previous attempts had been wide landscape style shots. Also it is in a far better position for imaging now that it has moved away from its proximity to the sun earlier in the month.
Settling on a field of view around 3x4 degrees I took around 220 30second images of the head and brightest elements of the tails in this image.
I was really pleased to get such nice details in the ion tail and the almost sun ray like details in the dust tail.
This is the best 84x30s stacked twice, once for comet align, once for star align. Images blended back together at the end.
Equipment used
ZWO ASI1600MC-Pro at unity gain and 0 degrees C cooling
Canon EF L 70-200mm f/2.8 at 200mm f/3.5
iOptron CEM25P
Images were collected unguided in a Bortle 6 field near Whitley Bay, North East England, UK between 23:30 Monday 13th July and 01:45 Tuesday 14th July
