My night started out as usual, I was getting ready to go out and shoot NEOWISE, I packedup my equipment, and as I was walking out I glanced at my computer and saw a kP 4 alert, so I quickly check the solar wind, and the Bz is south, yay I think to myself maybe we will see the aurora, boy was I in for a surprise. I drove out to Kannanaskis Country in Alberta, and set up to shoot the comet. First the NLC's came out and were a nice sight but I was after NEOWISE, I start shooting NEOWISE, and as I was doing a panorama I noticed some green in the last image. Oh I think to myself the aurora is out, as the aurora took on more shape and colour I was very surprised to see that the comet was overcoming the light of the aurora. The aurora started to calm down and I thought wow that was nice. I turned to take a look to the West and noticed a mauve looking cloud, that's odd so I decided to take an image and WOW STEVE has come to visit NEOWISE how cool is that. Quick change in strategy was in order and I quickly set up to shoot STEVE, and what do you know guess who else shows up? Yes, the Picket Fence aurora. What an incredible sight to see!!!
