Details:
There was another great show of noctilucent clouds tonight, starting shortly after sunset but fading out after 11pm BST. This has been the best season in a number of years to view NLCs here in the UK just north of London. The shots show a general view (taken with 17-40mmlens on a 5DMkIV 10s f4.6 ISO200) and a more detailed view (400mm lens on a 5DMkII. 1s at f5.6, ISO 2500). There were a range of structures. Visible and the shape of some were like breaking waves and very reminiscent of the Kelvin-Helmholtz cloud formations that are sometimes observed in much lower clouds.
