Details:
I have almost no words to describe what I saw tonight! Just imagine this: a crazy, fast and bright aurora show, with many pink fringes, almost non stop for no less than 45 minutes. Yes you read well: the aurora was active without interruption for 45 minutes in a row!
I don't know what sparked this, besides the usual Bz tipping south, because this was a far better display, and brighter and faster, than a couple of nights ago when we reached a Kp of 4.
I hiked up a fell here in Utsjoki in Finnish Lapland, and while standing on the summit,I felt as if I could almost touch the aurora. This was a very special moment for me, and with all what was happening in the sky, at some point I just watched in awe without taking any photos.
I hope that you enjoy those 4 images with pink fringes! I know I said a couple of weeks ago that I had seen the "best display of the season", but this one tonight was better, by far!
Wow, what a night in Utsjoki, almost at the very end of our aurora season!
