Details:
As Comet Atlas brightens, besides binocs what will work best now. Rich Field Newtonians, 4.25" f/5, are light enough to be hand held at low powers, easily mount on tripods, and can be adapted for smartphone photography. Mine is the National Geographic 114mm Explorer for $77 at WalMart. It comes with a 26mm Plossl (17X)for three degree wide angle views of the comet and deep sky objects. These photos were made with a 12mm Plossl and the smartphone adapter and my old iPhone 5s. Not as sharp as my apochromat Eon 72, but a great starter scope.
