Details:
What a bizarre night in the north of Finnish Lapland! The aurora season is coming to an end, and with the clocks moving one hour ahead the night before, it means that the sky wouldn't be dark enough before 11 PM local time, and completely dark after 11:30 PM. So I waited for a long time, anxiously looking at this site that was showing very good solar wind data. So I was expecting a big show in the blue hour. How wrong was I! The aurora remained very shy throughout the (short) night, and by 2 AM when the sky became clouded I had to give up. The display was nice, don't get me wrong, but compared to the night before (also posted in this gallery), I just don't understand what happened. The celestial triangle of the moon, Venus and the Pleiades, surrounded by some Auroras, was a very nice sight that saved the night!
