Surprise auroras strike big! I was on my way to one of my favourite spots to hunt auroras in Finnish Lapland – Kilpisjärvi. I barely had time to check-in to my cottage, as I realised the show is already going on! Dropped everything, grabbed my gear, and went exploring in the wild. As the solar wind speed was relatively low, I was not expecting much, and did not take my snowshoes, Currently, there is over a meter of snow in Kilpisjärvi. I was crawling in the snowy terrains for a couple of auroras, amazed by the powerful auroras. At one point they went pink and moved very fast! I also saw a fast corona unfolding above me, reminding me of an angel :) Tonight was an ideal case of "good location" and "negative Bz" creating a wonderful show!
