Details:
What a surprise Aurora show again in Utsjoki in Finnish Lapland! Nothing from the solar wind data was showing that we would get such bright and fast moving northern lights. Compared to the night before, this was infinitely better for our guests!
First the sky was pretty clouded and around 9:20 PM (local time) we got a powerful but frustrating show behind clouds. Then, contrary to the weather forecast, the sky completely cleared and half an hour later a second outburst took place, filling the sky in fast moving needles and several purple fringes!
I guess here at 70°N we are really at the right latitude for such outbursts, and the slightest disturbance in the solar wind produces exceptional Auroras displays.
That's two out of two so far in our Polar Night and Aurora Photography Workshop! Will we see more Auroras? We are eagerly waiting for the announced solar wind for 8th and 9th January, but how better can it become?
