Tonight I was back guiding for Lights Over Lapland. The temperatures have now dropped from plus degrees to -8C causing a weird mist to rise from lake Torneträsk. So I drove my clients to a spot about 45 km down the road. When we got there I saw stars and some aurora to the south. By the time I'd walked them to the photography spot the mist had enveloped us again. It was -16C in this spot and I decided we would back to the van and go chase some aurora. As soon as we got the van the sky cleared and aurora was immediately visible to the North and the South. We got cameras set back up and then in 15 mins we had this big powerful display! About 45 minutes after this we had the biggest (but quick hence no pictures) corona I've seen so far this season too. A great first night for this new group.
