Details:
It's Indian summer in California, which means high offshore winds bring hot inland air to the cold Pacific. It is the best time to hunt for the mirages, but sadly this kind of weather creates an extreme fire danger. Yesterday was one of these days. Wildfire raging in Northern California brought smoke to San Francisco. In the morning the smoke made the sky over Marine Headlands to look quite pictures (image # 2), The sunset was also smoky and the colors were beautiful, but  I was sure that there was no a way the images of the miraged sun would be able to penetrate that smoky darkness of the duct just above the horizon. However, the sun has won (Image # 1). It was like a miracle, a sign of hope that the fire will retreat, when one after another a few images of a miraged sun appeared in the duct (the video I filmed  is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obp_Fv7LCWs ). The color of these miraged images of the sun, the color of the sky and the color of the duct were all created by the smoke from the fire. It was  an unimaginable combination. The last light of the miraged sun disappeared more than 4 minutes after the predicted sunset time.
