Details:
Another warm day in San Francisco ended with the mirages. The sun was affected by both inferior and mock mirages and sometimes looked as a flower although an official name for this phenomena is Etruscan vase (Image # 3). In addition, there was a cruise ship navigating just below the sun. The ship's exhaust plume scattered the sunlight with a deflection of several minutes of arc as Dr. Young explained. It produced an impression that the ship was trying to interact with the sun (Image # 1). Another interesting feature is a mirage of Farallons. Notice how similar the shapes of the miraged sun and miraged Farallons look for a moment. It is because both mirages are influenced by the same temperature inversions.
