Details:
Tonight I saw this remarkably colorful sunset on a volcanic ash stratum, which has been lingering over the southwest U.S. over the past few days. The dark streak is a crepuscular ray, next to the shadow of a presumed cloud (below horizon) projected onto the ash layer. Scene was photographed at neutral white balance. The hues are as they appeared to the eye.
