Details:
Curtains of dust in the atmosphere formed rippling lines and waves similar to those we have seen this summer in noctilucent clouds. Shortly after sunset an extreme purple light appeared as well.
I took these pictures from Mt. Hochwald (753 m) in the Zittau Mountains near the german-czech border in southeastern Germany. Members of Astroclub Radebeul observe the night sky there every year since 1982. The striking mountain in the pictures is Mt. Lausche (793 m), the highest mountain in the Zittau mountains and a very old tertiary vulcano cone.
