Details:
The First Quarter Moon of 4th July was precisely half illuminated at 10.55 UT. Under favourable lighting conditions, usually within 4 hours of this, two features that fleetingly take an X or V shape appear on the terminator. Yesterday both were clearly visible as shown in the accompanying animation and still image. These were prepared from a video taken when the Moon was almost directly overhead at 15.35 UT (17.35 LT). Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset mode with x60 zoom magnification
