Details:
Eastern Pennsylvania has been plagued with clouds in 2019 with just a handful of clear evenings. Between rain showers, the clouds parted just enough to catch this very close pairing of the two smallest planets in our Solar System. I imaged the conjunction when the worlds were just a few degrees above the horizon. I was lucky to catch this event having to wait for a cloud bank to pass. Mars was fainter than Mercury and its red color is evident in this exposure. I used an Orion Shorttube 80 and a Canon 1000D DSLR with a 1 second exposure, ISO800.
