I'm back! After being quite silent since the end of the Aurora season, time for noctilucent clouds! Of course not in Lapland anymore because of the midnight sun, but back home in the Netherlands.
After a first display in the night from 8 to 9 June (the earliest I had ever seen them), tonight (night from 12 to 13 June) we experienced such a bright and large outburst of these mighty electric blue clouds.
I first spotted them from my living room window (facing north, of course!) just when the sky got dark enough. They already looked so high in the sky that I decided to take a quick drive to a nearby lake for a better foreground.
What a magnificent display! I can easily say that since I have been "chasing" those NLC in summer 2015, tonight was the brightest display that I have ever seen.
Watching it with all sorts of birds and frogs singing and calling at the lake was the cherry on the cake.
I know that NLC could be a sign of climate issues, so let's not get too excited, but they remain quite an exceptional sight.
Photos taken respectively at 11:32 PM, 11:37 PM, 11:56 PM and then 00:28 AM from my living room.
