Some consider a spotless Sun to be a boring Sun. I beg to differ. Here's the solar chromosphere imaged at 656.28nm in high resolution using a modified 250 mm Ritchey–Chrétien backyard telescope fitted with suitable filters. The fine structured, magnetically sculpted hydrogen in this minor active region is beautiful; certainly not boring!
