Details:
Clear sky with excellent visibility just after sunset on 6th May allowed the 2-day old crescent Moon to be observed setting behind the Christmas Pass Hills from when it first appeared above the bright afterglow of sunset until twilight and darkness. As the evening light faded, the Earthshine portion of the Moon became more clearly visible together with the bright star Aldebaran (above) and a smaller star Ain from constellation Taurus to one side. Just after dark the Moon displaying bright Earthshine was captured setting together with Ain behind a small group of Musasa trees on the almost invisible horizon (Part 2 mosaic compiled from 36 x 1 second time exposures at 1600 ASA). Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset scene and manual exposure modes.
