Details:
Tonight I was out guiding for Lights Over Lapland on the 3rd night of a 4 day tour. The group was in good spirits as they had seen auroras for the 1st 2 nights but we did not quite expect to see what we did tonight. The night started off well with lovely bands of green which got higher into the sky then we had much more intense greens and then some very strong pinks from the excited nitrogen. Not sure what happened as the KP was 1 during this time although the local KP from Kiruna was 5. So was this due to the Bz going south or just a localised geomagnetic event?
