Details:
This morning's tight conjunction of the old crescent Moon and bright planets Venus and Jupiter came in clear balmy predawn skies above my Cody Wyoming neighborhood , with temperature above normal for the end of January and without the legendary Wyoming winds. Perfect viewing conditions. A guest appearance by a distant jetliner enhanced the wide scene shot on my Nikon Coolpix 7800 mirrorless camera for 15 seconds at f/3.5 at an equivalent focal length of 58mm. The blinking jetliner began leaving a contrail near the red giant star Antares that persisted for several minutes in the moonlight. The tighter view of the Moon and Venus was shot about 30 minutes later, aiming to reveal the splendid earthshine . Faint twilight brought out the treetops on silohuette for this image shot on my Nikon D5300 DSLR and Sigma 150-500mm zoom at an equivalent focal length of 750 mm ( 15 X ). Exposure was 1/4 sec at f/6.3 ( wide open ) with vibration dampening. Images were post processed in GraphicConverter 10.6.8 to utilize the Nik software DFine plug-in for denoising. Two fine mornings in a row for watching celestial ballet !
