After a wonderful lunar sunset (here visible https://www.facebook.com/Un-Salto-nel-Cielo-855076467929907/ ), I have decided to try to watch the sunset of Sirius, the brightest stars of the sky. A few degrees from the horizon (image 1) its light looked like a small flashing flame that changed color very quickly, from red to orange, yellow and water green. And just before he touched it,for a fews seconds its light was reflected "on the sea" (image 2): WOW! Shortly afterwards, the star and its reflection joined together (image 3) and then gradually weakened, until its light disappeared, leaving first a weak green flash (image 4)! The photos are not beautiful but at night I couldn't do better. I hope to try again in the spring, when Sirio will set immediately after sunset. I have used a 12" dobson, "placed on the table", 76 magnifications and a smartphone in night mode (2000 ISO) The beach is far away about 7 kms. The images have not been modified. Best regards Paolo
