In these images Comet C/2018 N2 (ASASSN) was 402 million miles from Earth at magnitude 14.5 and was above the Southern Horizon as seen from Denver, Colorado. The comet has a short broad tail to the upper left of the coma. The Gif which covers 25 minutes is composed of 3 images each 300 seconds long with 300 seconds between images. Comet ASASSN will reach perihelion in its 2,044,228 year orbit on November 11 when it will be 290 million miles from the Sun. Comet ASASSN will make its close approach to Earth on October 19 when it will be 205 million miles from Earth and is predicted to reach magnitude 11. For those who like to make nice comet portraits with photoshop Comet ASASSN will pass 3 degrees from the center of M31, the Andromeda Galaxy, on November 2.
