Winter stars & nebulae above the Outeiro Redondo (Rounded Hill), from Serra do Barbanza megalithic site. Comet 64/P Swift-Gehrels is also visible in Aries (see annotated pic). 2 panels composition (sky & foreground): 6x60s ISO 2500 Nikon D600 full spectrum Nikkor AIS 28mm @f/4; 10x30s ISO 5000 Nikon D700 NIkkor AIS 20mm @f/5,6 red & white led lamp.

Some advanced amateur astronomers view such over-processed composites as fakes. Try showing some natural foregrounds, see the viewer reaction (no offense intended).

Thanks for your comment GeorgeLiv. This is a composition made with a full spectrum camera -as the technical info shows-, so the colors are not natural to the human eye.

I thinks its creative Art. When I study and photograph the sky I personally like finding ways to reveal what cant be seen with the human eye.
But I used to do the photography for our local school planetarium and the emphasis there was what could be seen by the human eye.
So any special wave length filters or modded cameras were not used.
It seemed easier to do this in the film camera days.

Thanks for your opinion orbital1. Every photograph has a creative -or artistic- side. Plus, pictures from a modded or specially filtered camera bring, as this case, an extra scientific information. Composition, perspective and timing were the same as if a film camera was used. Resources (chips, filters...) and processing methods (stacking, noise supressing...) are obviously different. Is this art or science? ... or both?

I think I would go with both science and art.
I like the science but the art aspect has its place also.
Personal preference is likely to influence what a person sees.
Back in 1986 there was a guy out on Easter Island doing an article for National Geographic. He did something like your photo but was using the statues there for the foreground against the night sky.
I was just taking sky pictures and didnt think to do that at the time.
