Picture of an offshore reef in the Minquiers seen from Jersey, UK. Mirage has “lifted” it above the horizon. Taken with celeston 90 and svbony digital camera as first image whilst setting up. Bit fuzzy but this is due to the atmospherics.

Actually, this mirage is not a lifted image above the horizon, but an downward reflected image above a ´lowered´ horizon. The two hills with the poles are real, and they are reflected upside down in a thin air layer over the more nearby water surface, thus forming ´rorschach´-like shapes.
