Details:
1st image: his, my 3rd straight night photographing this comet met with broken cloud cover just after this image was taken until ~10;05PM (a few minutes before moon rise). This is a near normal "eye" view (uncropped) showing Comet 46p between 7:19PM and 7:23PM MST looking southeast over my neighbor's house. This was a 30x4s unguided exposure at iso 6400 with 35mm Nikkor f/1.4 @ f/2 from raw file. The stars are fixed but the roof wasn't. The comet seemed about the same brightness as yesterday (www.flickr.com/photos/79387036@N07/44253625290/in/photost...). PixInsight and PS 6.0 was used. Temperature was 55F, RH 38%, with light winds (same as yesterday's readings). 2nd image: Taken at 10:05PM when Comet 46p transits the meridian (35 degs above the horizon) with moon rise occurring a few minutes later. Compare to yesterday: www.flickr.com/photos/79387036@N07/45345542704/in/datepos.... Clouds dominated most of the early night hours but cleared just long enough for this capture. With Comet 46p much higher in the sky, I was able to better record it's structure. Note the suggested small tail at the 10 o'clock position. Estimated magnitude 5.8. Without an operating clock drive my exposure time was limited: Nikon d7100, Nikkor 180mm ED @ f/2.8, iso 8960 (30x3s), iso 10600 (30x3s), PixInsight, PS 6.0. Cropped.
