Today when I was taking some photos of the Moon I was lucky to have a plane passing by just above the Moon. I just love how the photo turned out, the plane gives a strong space age touch to the image. Photographer Göran Strand, Sweden http://www.astrofotografen.se http://instagram.com/Astrofotografen

I love your image. A mountaineer for 40 years you captured not only the moon as well as the blowing snow off the rocks. A great
shot even without the jet.

Thanks scubadiver! It was quite windy yesterday when I took this photo and the blowing snow did add some nice drama to the photo.

Very beautiful, surreal, and a science fiction feeling, as if from my childhood astronomy books in the early 1960s space age. I remember images like this in my early books on astronomy, possibly done by the famous Chesley Bonestell as seen from other planets. Those images captured my curiosity as a child and so I began making slightly surreal pastel sketches of the suns surface, as I observed through my solar telescopes in 2006. Dr. Tony Phillips displayed My First Solar sketch here in spaceweather on October 13th in 2006, and it caused a sensation, as I contributed a new sketch almost monthly to spaceweather for a couple years.
Your photograph today rekindles that feeling of making those first sketches. Thank you for posting.
