Details:
For the third day, fast flowing solar wind from a large coronal hole continues to blast Earths magnetic field, creating beautiful aurora and moving magnetometer needles around the globe, including my own here in the UK. I've plotted the corresponding magnetometer data from the DSCOVR satellite alongside my own to illustrate the effectiveness of southerly embedded magnetic fields within the plasma at disturbing Earth's magnetic field.
