Details:
On a 25-mile hike across the Grand Canyon, USA, the extra weight of the camera equipment was definitely worth it, both during the day and night. This photo is of the Canyon walls at night illuminated by the nearly-full moon, with the International Space Station passing above and behind. The thin moving clouds appear here even softer and brighter than it seemed at the time due to the moonlight. I took
a list with me of ISS passes over the canyon area from CalSky.com in the hopes of seeing the space station above the canyon walls, and got lucky the first night of camping. Polaris is the brightest star in the image.
