Details:
Can you spot Saturn? Using a medium format camera, it was possible to image the Moon and Saturn in the same frame with a focal length of 1200mm allowing to see Saturn rings.
We are often asked how far we can see with our telescope. This it is all a question of size and distance and the conjunction of the Moon and Saturn is a good example. Even if Saturn is about 35x bigger in diameter than the Moon, at the time of the apparent encounter, Saturn was 3700x more distant from us than the Moon. This is the explanation why it looks so tiny in comparison of the Moon.
