Details:
We chased into clearer skies last night, Sept. 9, to catch views of a quiet arc of aurora across the north from near Yellowknife, the level of aurora that is almost always present here. Activity level was low.
But for a few minutes an isolated arc appeared south of the main oval, seen here near centre in the east in this 360° panorama. It looked and behaved very much like the infamous STEVE arc, but he usually appears farther south at a greater distance from the main auroral arc.
