Details:
I observed strange finger-like clouds looking east at the northwestern edge of the remnants of tropical storm Gordon. The Pleiades are also seen in the photos.

I suspected Kelvin-Helmholtz instability, although when I have seen it before, the clouds looked more like a series of open loops instead of fingers. The light pollution from a city 20 miles southeast of me (Rockford) that I usually curse as an astronomer was useful for a change in illuminating these clouds so I could see them and photograph them!

Actually, if you look at the cloud on the far right it has the wave whirl.
