Details:
These sprites were captured over the tropical wave that later became Tropical Storm Gordon. They were captured on the night of Sept 1 2018 while the wave was generating numerous lightning strikes per minute just west of Puerto Rico. Sprites will usually appear in the decaying phase of a storm system and over the stratiform region of the storm cell. My animation of this storm cell will show that to be the case with this storm system. Storm Animation Video: https://youtu.be/4MxGsMnowps
