Details:
I set my alarm to wake up at 2:30am. The moon had set, and the sky would be at its darkest of the night. I was greeted by a beautiful clear sky and using Capella as my guide in the north east, I easily found my target: Comet C/2017 S3 (Panstarrs). Not quite naked eye just yet, I shot this comet picture with a Nikon D810a and 200mm f/4 lens. A stack of 10 images to improve the quality. The comet does not appear to move much between frames making for a pleasing image. I was surprised to find a bit of a tail on this one! The moon will be in the way soon so I wanted to get this target while the sky was dark, and the comet was at its highest altitude.
