Details:
The University of Florida Lightning lab at Camp Blanding is 20 miles north of me and they were putting wired rockets thousands of feet up in the overcast sky tonight. No thunder or lightning around according to my lightning meter. I started taking pics of the rockets as they were shot skyward and drifted down. I noticed a Great Blue heron silhouetted on the lower branch of a tree 1/2 mile away across the lake. The 400mm lens was steadied by hand on the porch railing (not perfectly still) for this pic of 1.5 seconds/ISO3200. I didn't notice the lightning strike until processing the pics. What a shock!
