"Comet Mars!" I had the pleasure of spending last night and the wee hours of this morning photographing the summer sky above the picturesque St. John's Lutheran Church in Crabapple, Texas. Built in 1897, this lovely structure is situated about 10 miles north of Fredericksburg, Texas. Tonight, three planets and the core of the Milky Way put on a fine show. Jupiter gleamed in the west (right side), Saturn near center, and brilliant Mars dominated the east (left side). In fact, a passing thin cirrus cloud created a "comet-like" tail for Mars! The church windows were illuminated with 4 of my small LED candles sitting on the window ledges. It was a peaceful and lovely summer evening. Nikon D750, ISO 3200, 10 seconds, Sigma 14mm, f/2. Single image processed with Lightroom CC.
