Details:
Last night I photographed planet Mars, shining brightly in the early morning sky.
At an altitude of only 6.5° above the horizon, the turbulence was extreme, sometimes splitting the planets disc in 2 or 3 slices and displaying a green and blue flash usually seen on the Sun.
Even so I managed to stack the sequences into an image displaying some surface features seen through the dust storm that covers the planet.
The tiny bluish polar caps can also be seen in the image.
Mars is only 2 weeks away from opposition and has grown to 23".
Photographed at prime focus of 4000 mm of a OMC-200 Maksutov from OrionOptics UK.
