Light pollution from Marion, Iowa (right) proved no problem for the -2.51 magnitude planet Jupiter (center) at 12:22 am CDT, Thursday, May 10, 2018. This was the planet's closet approach to Earth. The camera looks southeast. 5 second exposure at f/3.5, 720 ISO, 12mm focal length. Nikon D7200 camera, Tokina 11-16mm lens. Second image a 300mm zoom capture.
