Details:
Fast flowing solar wind from a large coronal hole is making headlines in spaceweather news. The magnetic disturbance associated with the tide of plasma was easily detected on my home brew magnetometer here in the UK. Southerly pointing embedded magnetic field within the flow made it particularly geoeffective, producing beautiful aurorae and twitching magnetometers around the globe.
