Details:
A perfectly clear night sky with excellent visibility allowed a very bright Waxing Gibbous Moon with Golden Handle to be observed setting behind Christmas Pass in the early hours of the morning on 26 April. The illumination of the Moon was just right to display the Golden Handle caused by reflection of sunlight from the Montes Jura on the edge of the Mare Iridium Crater. This is clearly visible on the right hand side of the terminator in all the images and only happens when the Moon is about 11 days old. The x6 speed time-lapse animation was prepared from a sequence of 40 still photographs taken during the two minutes it took for the Moon to set. Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in night scene mode with up to x120 optical plus digital zoom.
