Details:
Comet 37P/Forbes was magnitude 14.9 and 145 million miles from Earth in these images. It has a tail to the upper right of the coma in these images. The comet fades in the GIF from image to image as morning twilight brightens. 37P will be at perihelion on May 4 on its 6.43 year orbit when it will be 149 million miles from the Sun. 37P may reach magnitude 13.5 this summer and will pass 90 million miles from the Earth August 18. The last image is from January 3 when the comet was just starting to become visible as it moved out of the morning twilight glare of the Sun as it came over the eastern horizon. The comet was about magnitude 17 at that time. To get the best resolution of the images select the bigger image again.
