The minor planet 2018 GE3, discovered only on April 14, is already next to earth on the morning of April 15. He missed us by 200.000 Kilometer. 2018 GE3 will be around 12m0 bright. The animation shows the 100 meters large minor planet on April 15 UT 23:30 when he was 13mag bright and moving in the minute more than 100 arc seconds. Image 116x3second 12"/4 Asi 1600 3x3bin

Awesome video. You know, I saw your post last night, around the time I was outside star-gazing with my 10. I didnt realize that last night would be the last opportunity to view this asteroid since it is now on the side of the sun. Wish I would have tracked this fast moving minor planet last night when I had the chance. I pulled 2018 GE3 into Stellarium and indeed it is rapidly making its way past the stars. Thanks for posting these images.

Bob Yesterday I had a very clear night. In the evening, the first mails (minor planet mailing list) came to this object. Fortunately, 2018 GE3 was well in the sky and was already bright.
