Details:
Here, some videos of auroras made in Norway.
All captures were made with a fisheye.
1° The first aurora is powerful enough to be filmed.
It is quite slow and the video here is accelerated 25x to cover 22 minutes.
2° Then, successive triggering of auroral sub-arcs takes over.
The expansion phase follows.
The whole process took about 6 minutes.
3° The triggering phase itself is very short. Everything happens in about 60 seconds, before the expansion takes over.
The following video is presented in real time. The exposure time is 1/4 seconds, hence the jerky appearance.
