Here, some videos of auroras made in Norway. All captures were made with a fisheye. 1° The first aurora is powerful enough to be filmed. It is quite slow and the video here is accelerated 25x to cover 22 minutes. 2° Then, successive triggering of auroral sub-arcs takes over. The expansion phase follows. The whole process took about 6 minutes. 3° The triggering phase itself is very short. Everything happens in about 60 seconds, before the expansion takes over. The following video is presented in real time. The exposure time is 1/4 seconds, hence the jerky appearance.
