After the amazing March 9-10th magnificent show and having a possible G1 storm ahead I went out last night with high hopes. Driving 120 Km to location was fast, thinking how I will set up everything, shooting angles and all the stuff related to a full night of aurora chasing. Not like the previous storm I mentioned, where while I was driving the aurora was dancing all the time, now everything was quiet, suspicions to quiet. I got on location set up all the cameras and waited… and waited…. and waited …..until 4 am, seeing only a skinny poor green band crossing the sky from east to west. Almost getting ready to pack everything the green band suddenly started growing in thickens and was getting brighter and brighter by seconds. Looking at the data, BZ dropped significantly from an heroic zero to below -5. The show lasted for just over half an hour. I didn’t get the G1 storm predicted but at least I got a small treat from Lady Aurora and so went by another night chasing the lights. Imported and edited in LR, no vibrance or saturation added. (Nikon D810, Nikkor 14-24mm 2.8, ISO 4000 & 5000; 4,5 & 6 seconds exposure; 14mm; Nikon D800, Nikkor 20mm 1.8, ISO 4000; 3 second exposure; 20mm - Mundare, Alberta, Canada).
