Details:
Venus and Mercury were only 1.8 degrees apart when these photos were taken. The planets are still very close to the Sun: 12.5 (Venus) and 10.7 (Mercury) degrees. The first photo shows Venus setting over Saquarema, while the second shows both Venus (top) and Mercury (bottom) at only 5.3 and 3.7 degrees of altitude surrounded by clouds only 16 minutes after sunset. Photos were taken with a Sony DSC-HX300 camera at 18:42 and 18:37 (UTC-3h), respectively. Clouds blocked the view of the horizon up to 3.5 degrees.
