Details:
Messages from various astronomers on a NZ astronomy Yahoo site seem to indicate that Gisborne was one of the few places to see the eclipse in New Zealand. I observed it from the start at 12:47am until the end at 4:12am. It was such a beautiful sight, seeing the Moon slowly entering the Earth’s 1.4 million km long shadow – turning into a red orb in the sky, and then leaving the shadow. I bet that it used to freak ancient peoples out!
