Details:
The Golden Handle of the Moon can only be seen for a few hours, about 10-11 days after New Moon or two to three days after the First Quarter. When the sun rises on the top of the Jura Mountains, the ridge is illuminated while the lower lying plain of Sinus Iridium is still in shadow. The first photograph was taken from Mutare at 16.41 UT on 27 January 2018 11 days after New Moon. The second is a crop from the original. The final mosaic includes three additional stills of the Moon waxing from first quarter during the preceding three days. Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset scene mode with x60 zoom magnification.
